Expect to be very busy. Expect to have fun. Expect to work hard.

New York Wing is expecting to select 6 cadets to attend the Flight Academy for Powered Flight and 2 cadets for Remote Pilot Training. . The cadets will be part of the NYW Encampment, as Flight "P".

There will also be two weekend ground schools that all selected applicants MUST attend. (Both Powered and Remote) They will be held on the same weekend as the Leadership Workshop and Staff Skills Workshop. Cadets MUST arrive on Friday by 1800 and will be dismissed on Sunday at 1500. The Flight Academy will look to help cadets get to and from the weekends (train or bus) if needed and will pay the fee for those weekends. Cadets will receive the ASA private pilot kit and test prep book at the first weekend. They will be expected to review material covered in ground school between weekends. They will be quizzed on what was taught the prior weekend ground school. Cadets will have the opportunity to take 3 practice written exams between the last ground school and the start of the Flight Academy. They will arrive on Friday 17 July by 1700 and can expect to take a practice written test that evening.
